City Church Dundee

Welcome to City Church

City Church is part of the Newfrontiers family of churches, a rapidly growing and dynamic network with over 200 churches in the UK and many more in around the world, in numerous countries.

We emphasise the importance of declaring the greatness of our God in praise and worship, preaching the word of God and hearing his voice through gifts of the Spirit. We believe that church should be happy, safe and active!

Below is a little bit of information about us. We hope you enjoy your visit with us today, fill out the contact details if you would like to be kept informed or get more involved.

Leadership

In city church, we believe in plural leadership. Whether it is in eldership, small groups or other ministries, we aim to develop team responsibility in leadership. Until elders are appointed, leadership responsibility rests with Craig Stocks with apostolic oversight form Matthew Clifton-Brown, of King’s church Edinburgh. There are many great people in church who are developing in leadership - watch this space!

Children

As a family church we cater to children of all sizes!

During Sunday meetings we run an exciting kid’s church for pre-school and primary age children. Within this ministry the children are helped to develop and express their own relationship with Jesus. The teaching in the children’s church follows the same themes as the rest of the church are exploring.

Youth

There is a youth group for children of high school age. This provides a great opportunity for our teens to encourage each other while building their own faith. Andy Owen leads the youth group with a programme that is developing all the time!

Students

Finally, we run a student programme for all students and anyone of student age. Peter and Jenny Calcraft are our student leaders - pick up flyers and programmes from them. The programme includes socials, studies on relevant subjects and other events.

Church Life

Small Groups

Church members meet in the midweek, 2-3 times a month in homegroups. Homegroups provide a closer family and pastoral network in a more intimate setting than when the whole church gets together.

Weekend away

Every year the church goes away together for a weekend of just being ourselves. There is teaching, worship and fellowship and it proves to be significant in the life of the church and individuals every year - a “don’t miss it” for members!

Conferences

One of the great things about being part of such a big movement is that we can connect with other churches at larger events such as Newday (teens) and Mobilise (Twenties) each of which attracts thousands of young people and are a highlight in the calendar. There is also our own regional conference in the North and an amazing Leadership conference every year in Brighton.

Clubs

Part of the vision for City Church, in to enhance the lifestyle of both City Church members and the people of Dundee. To help with this, we get together in a number of different activities in “City Church Clubs”. These have included a craft club, book club, climbing club and squash club - but the possibilities are almost as many as you can imagine!

Alpha

The well-known “Alpha Course” is a great way to get a clear understanding of what the Christian Faith is all about, in an informal setting. We have hosted Alpha courses periodically, check with a steward or on the information table for when the next Alpha course is running, you would be welcome to come along.

Know Jesus

The greatest decision any one can make in their life is ... to follow Jesus. The Bible says that all who call on his name will be saved, if you would like to know more, please ask at the information desk for a copy of the Alpha course booklet “Why Jesus?”
